Having the mobility to move to a cooler and quieter part of a home or office helps to improve and increase productivity. I love this new freedom to work in my family room while the kids are playing. For many years I would hide out in the back of the house and miss out on some of those family times. Now with wireless and can even go outdoors and do some work on the patio during the morning or late afternoon. This new freedom is adding a new level of enjoyment to my computing experience. Now with the new netbooks available going on the road is made even easier when you are only carrying a 2 to 3 pound netbook instead of a 5 pound plus laptop. The computer notebooks help provide information for upgrading notebook DVD drives. They are also built to last with good functional design and convenient access covers for all the major components that can be either upgraded or replaced. The DVD is probably the easiest to replace. It has only one screw holding it in place. To begin you will need a small Phillips screwdriver and a clean ant-static work area. First remove the battery and then the hold down screw and slide the DVD outwards. It is plugged in, so it should not take very much force to pull it out. Once removed just slide the new one in and replace the hold down Phillips screw. Replace the battery and turn the notebook on and make sure the new DVD device is working.

The computer notebooks help provides information to help with notebook hard drive upgrades. Todays’ notebooks have access covers under the computer towards the side so that the drive can be easily removed. When replacing the drive you should consider a 7200 RPM and 16MB buffer instead of the slower 54ooRPM and 8MB buffer. Also if your notebook is compatible with the newer SATA drives you will see a noticeable improvement over the older ATA drives. ATA drives have a maximum sustained transfer rate of less than 50MB per second. The newer SATA drives are almost double that at less than 100MB per second. The only thing that beats that is the newer more expensive solid-state drives that can reach 200MB per second. It wont be long and solid-state drives will be the norm. To begin the replacement of the hard drive you will need a small Phillips screwdriver and a clean anti-static work area. On the underside on the computer make sure power is off and the battery is removed. Next remove the 2 small Phillips screws holding the hard drive in place. Next remove the drive and the drive caddy. Place the new drive in the caddy and secure it back in place in the notebook. Replace the battery and boot the computer to either a bootable operating system install disk or a bootable flash drive that has the operating system install files. Notebook Memory Upgrade

The computer notebooks help provides an easy memory upgrade procedure that show it only take minutes to upgrade notebook memory. Notebook manufactures have designed their notebooks so that memory and drives can be upgraded very easily. They have included access covers that have one or two screws holding them in place. Once the access covers are removed the memory has a small clip on each side holding it in place. Just slide the clips away from the memory and the memory will rock forward and can be easily removed. When placing the new memory in the slot, just make sure that it is seated completely and then rock it back in place and the clips should engage automatically to secure it. There is even an small slot off set on the pin edge of the memory so you can only insert it one way. It will surprise you on how fast and easy it is to upgrade memory.
